Brenda

I am in my last semester at USC in the working professional MSW program for the school education setting track. I graduated from UCLA with a major in Sociology and a minor in Labor and Workplace studies. I grew up in the city of Baldwin Park. My favorite show to binge watch is Grey's Anatomy. I am currently watching Game of Thrones and House of the Dragons. I chose the USC MSW program because I liked that it offered a program that would allow me to work while pursuing my degree and because many of the USC alumni students I spoke with had great things to say about their experience while pursuing their MSW program.

Edith

Hey everyone, my name is Edith Gonzalez. I am currently in my second year of the MSW program.  A little about myself: I graduated from California State University, Los Angeles in 2020. I was born and raised in Los Angeles and am  from the neighborhood of Highland Park. My comfort show to watch is The Office and my current favorite shows to binge watch are All American and Grey’s Anatomy. I chose to attend USC for my MSW program because it was always a dream of mine and because of the Trojan network! Additionally, this program provides  professors who are excelling in the work I want to do as well as the accreditation I need in order to get my  licensure in the future. I am excited to be part of the student ambassadors this school year!

Lupe

My name is Guadalupe Bedolla but you can all call me Lupe. This is my 2nd year in the program and I am absolutely loving it. For undergrad I attended Cal State Fullerton (GO titans!) My hometown is La Puente, California. My favorite show to binge watch is The Office because I love to laugh! I chose USC for my MSW program because after doing research on the different MSW programs, USC was the right fit for me and not to mention the admissions team was so helpful during my process of applying; it was the cherry on top! :)

Alexus

Hi! My name is Alexus. I am a first year full time on campus MSW student here at USC. I did my undergrad in Thousand Oaks at California Lutheran University and graduated with two bachelor's degrees in Criminology & Criminal Justice and Psychology. Currently, I am placed at Santa Monica PD which has been such an amazing experience. After graduation, I hope to work within the criminal justice system. I am from Ventura County, specifically Oxnard and Camarillo. My favorite show to binge-watch is either Law & Order SVU or Love Island UK. I chose USC for my MSW program because I looked forward to having access to the amazing network and I really liked how hands-on the program was with the opportunities that could be presented.

Jamy

Hello everyone, my name is Jamy Garcia and I am currently in my first year of graduate school. I attended California State University, Northridge where I studied Child & Adolescent Development with Applied Sciences for my undergraduate degree. That being said, I am a product of the Educational Opportunity Program at CSUN and was born and raised in South Central. My favorite shows to binge-watch is How to Get Away with Murder and The Office. My zodiac sign is Gemini and I am 100% Guatemalan. Additionally, I chose USC for my MSW degree because attending the University of Southern California has always been a professional goal of mine and to represent students who come from similar backgrounds like mine is also a huge plus.

Kathleen

My name is Kathleen Rodriguez Makepeace, and I am a first-generation Latinx graduate student. I attended UC Davis for my undergraduate career and received a bachelor’s in English and Political Science. I fully expected to enter a law program when I graduated, but working with immigrant families and children on a direct clinical basis through internships pushed me toward researching various careers that could lead me in the right direction. Through this process, I learned about the MSW program at USC and was impressed by the school’s dedication to social justice and culturally sensitive practice. It was just a bonus that the on-campus program was near my current residence. I have only been in the program for a few weeks, and I already believe that I have learned a lot from my peers and professors that will make me a better social worker.
